At present, the major pattern of power supply is Alternating Current, AC no matter for home lighting, industrial lighting, commercial lighting or public lighting. While the traditional LED lighting must be driven by Direct Current, DC. When using DC-LED for lighting, there must attach a “Alternating-Direct current conversion device” to transfer alternating current into direct current. However, because of the disadvantages of this power supply pattern such as high cost, low light transferring efficiency and short lifetime etc which go against with the original intention of high-efficiency and energy-conservation. Therefore, to develop AC-LED products can be directly used in alternating current network has become the focus for the LED enterprises and one of the major tasks for the LED industry to explore in the future.

Newly developing LED corporations such as Seoul Semiconductor, Sunfor lighting, Changyuntong Photoelectricity are leading the development trend of global lighting industry by AC-LED technology.

 

AC-LED technology is leading the new tide for LED lighting market. It is universally acknowledged that LED products driven by direct current have not a few hidden defects. They have to be used along with current rectifier and merely has a lifetime of 20 thousan hours while the life span of LED products driven by direct current is as long as 50 to 100 thousand hours. As a result, it needs to change the current rectifier for many times within the lifetime of LED products driven by direct current. So it is sure to be inconvenient if it is applied to the fixed lighting set. The high exploit reliability, small volume and low-cost LED driving circuit is becoming one of the key factors for the large-scale application of LED lighting.
