The Foshan 3rd semiconductor lighting industry communication conference sponsored by science and technology bureau of Foshan and organized by Foshan lighting luminaire association was held last Friday. Hundreds of industry delegates of lighting giants like OSRAM, Foshan Lighting, Tovey and intergovernmental group of experts gathered in Foshan, jointly discussing the future trend of LED industry.
It is known that our city has been the advanced demonstration area for LED promotion and industry development and has formed due scale of the lighting industry. Moreover, it has shaped lighting industrial cluster led by the four listed companies of OSRAM, Foshan Lighting, Cnlight Optoelectronics, and NationStar Optoelectronics, featuring in joint development of traditional and semiconductor lighting. But the LED enterprises with a rapid development still confront with severe challenges. Pan Guanghua, deputy director general of science and technology bureau in Foshan said, only by elevating core intellectual property belonging to the enterprises can promote the core technology by upgrading and development of LED industry.
“The competition facing with LED will be more fierce next year.” Chen Wenji, Director of Operations in LED Business Unit of Foshan Lighting told the reporter that mega brands next year will continue to speed up brand development, channel building of LED. The future competition includes products, channel and capital. “From my point of view, there is going to be a tempest next year and the shuffle will be more intensified. With the close down of some medium and small enterprises, there will be more bosses running away. ” said Chen Wenji.
Although the LED products only accounts for 10% of the whole lighting products at present, Chen Wenji thought LED will be definitely the trend in the future and in the first three quarters this year, Foshan Lighting promoted LED as key products and gained fine average profit. Our LED market now is relatively comprehensive, including home and public lighting. With the slow decline of LED luminaire price, the household products no matter the LED bulb or ceiling mounting light are increasing amazingly.
“LED’s got a bright future. There are more collapsed enterprises of traditional lighting in lighting industry.” Wu Yulin, President of Foshan Lighting Luminaire Association told the journalist that in August and September this year, one lighting company in Foshan cut down the whole department of energy-saving light because of dull sale. An enterprise will close down if it doesn’t turn to LED. As to the common status of income increment but not profit within the listed companies in the first three quarters, Wu Yulin considered understandable because the technology is improving while the price is going down.
